The SPINVFX team attended the Ottawa International Animation Festival this weekend in Ottawa, Ontario. OIAF, North America’s largest animation event, includes screenings, workshops, panels and parties taking place with Ottawa landmarks as the backdrop.

Saturday, September 24th, SPIN participated in multiple events including two panel discussions, as well as the Animation Career Fair.

SPIN’s Director of Animation, Peter Giliberti, Creative Director, Dave Cardwell and Head of Creative Resources, Leah Jaikaran, led a panel discussion showcasing our work on The Expanse. From script to screen, the team guided the audience through the extensive visual effects process, revealing the groundbreaking CGI effects created for the show.

Dave Cardwell, SPINVR Creative Director, talks about the opportunities and overall importance of virtual and augmented reality, as well as speaks about our newest cloud-based software, BRIOVR, launching this month (stay tuned!).

Leah Jaikaran, Head of Creative Resources, also participated in a professional development panel, discussing how to land your dream job in Animation. Leah spoke about the importance of maintaining an up-to-date and professional social media presence and how to create a stand-out online presence, demo reel and portfolio.
