A CG Supervisor with nearly 25 years of experience in VFX, Mark Krentz is a graduate of CalArts with a background in set design. Mark’s path into VFX began in 1999 while working in a North Hollywood set shop, where an introduction to the Alias and Maya software sparked a lasting interest in digital environments and asset creation.
After learning the software, Mark went on to join Sony Pictures Imageworks as a Junior Modeler, working on The Polar Express. He quickly took on greater responsibility, becoming Model Lead on Monster House and later being promoted to Model Supervisor midway through the production.
Throughout his career, Mark has contributed to major projects including Beowulf, The Smurfs, Oz the Great and Powerful, and Call of Duty: Black Ops.
Since joining SPIN VFX in 2017, Mark has grown from Asset Supervisor to CG Supervisor, bringing a deep focus on asset and environment development alongside a strong passion for R&D and emerging tools.
His SPIN credits include the Emmy and VES Award winning show Stranger Things, along with popular titles such as The Expanse, The Haunting of Hill House, Hunter Killer, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and most recently, A Merry Little Ex-Mas.
With a foundation in both physical set design and cutting-edge CG, Mark bridges artistic intent with technical execution, helping drive high-quality visuals while advancing SPIN’s approach to innovation.
