Rigger

RIGGER
As a Rigger, you’ll be building the inner skeleton or controls of a character or vehicle provided to animators to bring to life. An important factor is having a knowledge of anatomy and movement to accurately build a functional system.
As Rigger, you will spend your days:

  • creating and maintaining efficient, elegant character rigs in Maya
  • working with modeling and animation departments to facilitate articulate realistic appealing characters
  • integrating characters and rigs into the production pipeline
  • working in partnership with production, animators and modellers to ensure shots are delivered to the very highest standard
  • providing support and updates to character rigs throughout production
  • developing long-term strategies to automate character production
  • communicating with production and supervisors regarding schedules and timelines
  • identifying internal development milestones and presenting them in a timely manner
  • incorporating feedback from the supervisor to meet client expectations
  • be quick and responsive to production and supervisors

You must have:

  • a minimum of 3 years work experience in feature film/broadcast VFX production
  • previous experience designing physically accurate muscle and skin rigs
  • solid knowledge of rigging systems
  • comprehensive knowledge of Maya
  • excellent time and project management skills
  • proactive in solving technical challenges and incorporating changes
  • knowledge of physical anatomy and muscular/bone structure
  • good understanding of the entire visual effects process, from shooting to modeling to texturing, animation and rendering
  • working knowledge of Mel and Python
  • knowledge of traditional animation methods
  • experience working with blendshapes / PSD’s
  • experience developing facial rigging systems
  • the ability to work independently and autonomously
