EDITORIAL & SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN

The Editorial & Systems Technician will:

SYSTEMS RESPONSIBILITIES –

  • Monitor the ticketing system for issue tracking on the studio floor, communicating with artists and management to resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Maintain and install hardware, software and associated connections
  • Identify, troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software installations
  • Create and maintain support documentation for internal department policies and digital security policies
  • Provide technical expertise to enable the correct application of operational procedures
  • Plan and perform scheduled maintenance in accordance with production schedules
  • Set up work stations for current and new staff members (including physical desk moves and/or new desk builds)
  • Deploy and cable computers, workstations, and monitors
  • Provide support for studio printers
  • Receive merchandise and check delivery slips
  • Repair minor wall damage, replacing light bulbs and basic troubleshooting of appliances

EDITORIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure editorial sequence edits are maintained with the VFX shots
  • Manage and document the turnover of shots from ingestion to delivery packaging
  • Ensure Shotgun is maintained with current shot counts, lineup and retimes
  • Perform basic QC checks on published shots before cutting into timeline
  • Prepare sequence edits for internal and client approvals
  • Perform shot retimes to match supplied editorial reference
  • Manage any outsource media and ingestion into the pipeline
  • Overseeing debayering processes for proper integration onto the show floor
  • Collaborate with production for effective tracking of IO through tracking processes
  • Create  marketing reels for website deployment as required

You must have:

  • A positive attitude, with an interest in continuous learning
  • A team-centric working process and proactive problem solving abilities
  • A sense of urgency and desire to help others
  • 2+ years experience with Linux and Nuke Studio
  • Experience with AD environment and Windows 7 workstations as domain members
  • Ability to lift at least 25kg
  • 2+ years of editing experience within the film and television industry
  • Experience with Linux/Windows/Mac co-environments, sharing data between platforms and managing permissions
  • The ability to convert between key numbers, time-codes and frames
  • Excellent communication and multitasking skills
  • An eye for detail and thorough understanding of techniques, file formats, colour-space, software and technology relating to the live action visual effects
  • Knowledge of Avid and DaVinci resolve is a plus
  • Some knowledge of Shotgun and Tweak RV would be an asset as well
